Edward Snowden and #HashtagNation

We are watching the Edward Snowden interview on NBC. It has been and will be exhaustively covered. My view is that Snowden engaged in noble civil disobedience, like Martin Luther King before him and Henry David Thoreau and Elizabeth Cady Stanton before them.

But that's not my focus here. Just two quick observations:

• We are recording this on the DVR, but watching in real time. Some things still command that level of attention.
• Everything has its hashtag now. To wit, is Snowden a #patriot or #traitor? That's for each of us to decide, but it's not #official until being tweeted.
