We're in Manhattan for a few days, and this morning I strolled through Alphabet City. On 14th St, between Avenues A and B, I saw a chalked version of the First Amendment (picture below).
The "Like|Share|Comment" options are quite striking. It's the Constitution, Facebook style!
If Facebook had been around when the Bill of Rights was crafted, would the result have been better, worse or just different? As things stand the Second Amendment has been co-opted by the NRA and--along with protecting the press--the First Amendment provides succor to sleazy pornographers. The language is stirring but the reality does not always match the rhetoric. I suppose this would still be true had the Bill of Rights had been crowdsourced by the people.
