Home from Las Vegas

Tonight I returned from Las Vegas, after two days away at an excellent joint chapter meeting of MLA.

This was my first time in Vegas for a real reason; the two previous visits have been for vacation only.  I  didn't play the slots once, and didn't know enough about cards to do anything else. We stayed in the Flamingo Hotel, which claims to have the best wedding chapel in Vegas. I wasn't in that market either.

This left lots of time to muse about librarianship. I presented my "biblioblogosphere" paper at the meeting, and it went well.  Look for more info about that paper very soon; it led to a great question about whether blogs could become venues for serious scholarship. That's already happening to a modest extent, and I think the sky's the limit for the potential of blogs, vlogs, podcasts, et. al to reshape discourse in many disciplines.

But these are heavy thoughts for another day; right now it's time for bed!
