Overheard on the Corner of 45th and 8th

I was on Broadway tonight--as a theatergoer, not a star.  And baby, it's cold outside.

While waiting for the light to change at the northwest corner of 45th Street and 8th Avenue, the woman just behind me bellowed, "Whoo! Whoo!" This was her way to say it was cold. It takes all kinds.

The women in front of me looked back with a mixture of alarm and trepidation. I totally avoided making any eye contact whatsoever.

One of the women who looked back said, "Yes, it's cold."

Then the bellower proclaimed, loudly, "No evidence of global warming tonight!!" Nobody got into a debate with her, but I must confess that I admired the chutzpah of the comment. I had to restrain a laugh, and was smiling while I shivered.

Take that, Al Gore!!
