Crisco. My mother taught me how to make potato pancakes when I was a kid and she always used Crisco to fry them in. When Lynn and I were courting we'd have potato pancakes and champagne for brunch on Saturdays after long late nights at the clubs. It continues to be a ritual for us when we find ourselves at home on a lazy Saturday without too much that we have to do. And only Crisco will do.

Barbasol shaving cream. It's cheap and effective, and reminds me of my college days.

Subway. At least when it comes to road trips, I always seek the next Subway to get a decent (if not always stellar) healthy sandwich. Of course, the growing presence of Quizno's is corrupting some of that loyalty, but as far as interstate highway exits, Subway reigns supreme! And since I'm now back in Louisiana doing FEMA contracting work and on the road all the time, Subway is a way of life. Hope to talk to you both soon...

Hey Helen - I recently started up a blog having a similar premise to yours, and found "Blog of Questions" through Google.

To answer your question #4: I am seemingly loyal to Colgate toothpaste, even though i grew up with Crest and everybody else in my family seems to still use Crest. I am also as loyal as possible to the Firefox web browser, deviating only when some IE specific functionality doesn't work.

Skippy peanut butter, Hellman's mayonnaise and Heinz ketchup -- because of their clear and vast superiority over all wannabes.

Cynthia

I'm with Marie - peanut butter is the staff of life and Skippy peanut butter is not only my favorite brand but is not one of the brands that were recalled recently.
